The Roman bronze situla comes from a collection of archaeological artifacts confiscated at customs and transferred to the holdings of the National Museum of History of Moldova in 2009. Its place of discovery remains unknown.

A situla (Latin for "bucket") is a metal vessel-usually made of bronze-shaped like a pail and equipped with two movable handles at the top, traditionally used for mixing wine with water. The handles are attached to the vessel via two decorated ears that are welded to the rim.

The body of the situla is truncated-conical in shape and features two decorative bands with small circular patterns formed by hammering, located just below the rim.

Its base is double-layered: the inner bottom is hemispherical and hammered, while the outer bottom is flat and lathe-made. The outer base is welded to the inner bottom, serving as the vessel's foot-support.

This object was crafted using a combination of casting, hammering, and partial lathe-finishing. Dimensions: Maximum height - 31.7 cm; Maximum diameter - 22.8 cm; Base diameter - 13.5 cm

Situlae of this type originated in the Roman Empire and were later adopted by various ancient peoples, including those from the northwestern Pontic region.

20 local fashion designers presented their collections on the Fashion Soirée runway

June 25-26, 2022

On June 25 and 26, 2022, local designers and fashion ambassadors took part in the Fashion Soirée event. In the courtyard of the National Museum of the History of Moldova, 20 local brands presented their new summer collections. This wonderful event, held with live music, gathered more than 500 spectators, including celebrities and public figures.

This year's Fashion Soirée was dedicated to responsibility, social cohesion and concern for the future of fashion design. On Saturday, visitors enjoyed the fashion show presented on the catwalk by actresses, bloggers, businesswomen and creative people.

This year, the following fashion brands pleased us with their new creations: Florii, Rodica Nicov, Tricon & My Revival, Alina Bradu, Irene Vitali, Anastasia Posh, Duca, March Again, Yulia Efros, Ramuri, Damiane, Julie Anne Millenary, Evadeya, Kasandruța, Nicole Storm, Ionel, Etnopera, Julia Alert and Georgette.

The tenderness and fortitude of Moldavian women is reflected in the original style of outfits inspired by national traditions. The indescribable purity of femininity is conveyed by dresses made of natural fabrics with traditional handmade lace, in white or pale beige colors. Other designers have managed to turn the minimalist style into a bold artistic aesthetic. The catwalk also featured elegant, casual and sporty styles.

"Holding this fashion event has become a summer tradition. During the pandemic, it was more difficult, but we returned to this beautiful outdoor atmosphere again, especially since we have a special place, the garden of the National Museum of History of Moldova", said Marcela Lozovanu, Executive Director of APIUS.

The Moldova Fashion Days series of annual events are aimed at promoting local fashion manufacturers and are organized by the Light Industry Employers Association (APIUS) with the support of the Future Technologies project funded by USAID and Sweden. The event was brought to life thanks to DIN INIMA and Berlizzo Events, with Moldindconbank acting as the general partner.

We are glad to contribute to the promotion of creative industries in our country!
