International Scientific Conference “Yesterday’s Cultural Heritage – Implications for the Development of Tomorrow’s Society”, Section 5

On February 11-12, 2025, in the context of the International Day of Girls and Women in Science, the National Museum of History of Moldova participated in the organization of the 5th meeting dedicated to the contributions of women in research. The event took place within the International Scientific Conference "Yesterday's Cultural Heritage - Implications for the Development of Tomorrow's Society", organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Metropolitan Center for Scientific Research TABOR (Romania), the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Ukraine), the European Institute for Multidisciplinary Research (Romania), the Free University of Berlin (Germany).
The 5th Section titled "Culture of memory and cultural heritage in post-totalitarian society: projects and practices of scientific valorization", moderated by Dr. Ludmila Cojocaru and Dr. Lidia Pădureac, was hosted by the National Museum of History of Moldova. The scientific papers discussed the issue of building a European culture of memory in the Republic of Moldova and Romania (Dr. Ludmila Cojocaru, Dr. Cristina Pușcaș, Maria Axinte, Drd. Olga Trandafilova), presented the heritage value of the testimonies of the victims of the totalitarian regime (Drd. Nelea Chihai) and examined the phenomenon of the memory of communist totalitarianism in pre-university education in the Republic of Moldova (Dr. Lidia Pădureac), elucidated the process of articulating cultural trauma in post-totalitarian society (Dr. Hab. Claudia-Florentina Dobre) and analyzed the entities and narcissistic stakes of the totalitarian phenomenon (Dr. Hab. Zinaida Bolea).
During the two days of proceedings, the scientific conference constituted an international platform for discussion, bringing together consecrated researchers, museographers, experts and young researchers from various fields from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, and Italy.
