On the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites the National Museum of History of Moldova opened an exhibition of urban projects on the re-use of the public space in downtown Chișinău. The projects on display were developed in the framework of the National contest of urbanism and architecture launched by the Embassy of France in Moldova, the Municipality of Chișinău and the Agency of Inspection and Restoration of Monuments.
The exhibition brings together 40 projects made by 17 urban architects who proposed ideas for developing the protected area, the pedestrian area - 31 august 1989 street, in the perimeter of streets Maria Cebotari and Alexandru Pușkin, and of the unprotected area, the Circus with the nearby area on Igor Vieru boulevard. The projects exhibited in the museum present several ideas on the rehabilitation and redevelopment of a section on 31 august 1989 street which is to be transformed into a pedestrian area, and the area of the Circus from Chișinău.
On April 19, at the exhibition opening, were announced the winners of the National Contest of urbanism and architecture. 1st Prize was awarded to the group of architects from Oberliht Association (Borozan Ina, Deleanu Toma, Moldovan Vlad, Vatamaniuc Andrei, Vrednic Stanislav, Us Vladimir, Sprînceana Vitalie) who drafted the project „Development of the protected area, 31 August 1989 street, in the perimeter of A. Pușkin and M. Cebotari streets - pedestrian area". 2nd Prize was awarded to the group of architects Burungiu Ion, Danciu Mihai-Ionuț, Lisnic Inesa and Prunici Ion for the project „Development of the unprotected area, public space - Circus from Chișinău and the nearby area from Renașterii Naționale boulevard". The Special Prize of the Jury was awarded to the group of architects from the Workshop of architecture design OLDARCHITECTURE.
