Between September 26 and October 12, 2025, the National Museum of History of Moldova will host the exhibition "The Artifact from YOUR Locality" in Exhibition Hall No. 4. This initiative is part of a project implemented by the NGO "ICOM Moldova National Committee" and funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova under the "2025 Cultural Projects Competition" grant program.
The exhibition is one of the key activities of the project bearing the same name, which brings to light the archaeological heritage discovered in rural communities across the Republic of Moldova. It highlights artifacts from 20 localities in the Northern, Central, and Southern regions of the country, offering the public an opportunity to explore fragments of their local history.
The display features 20 exceptional archaeological artifacts that have, over time, become part of the collections of the National Museum of History of Moldova and the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. These objects-ranging from tools and ceramics to ritual items and jewelry-offer a fascinating glimpse into the past, revealing the traditions, occupations, and daily lives of our ancestors.
The exhibition aims to bring the public closer to their local cultural heritage, fostering education and awareness of the historical and identity value of these artifacts. It consists of 20 banners dedicated to the artifacts, accompanied by informative texts, images, maps, and explanations detailing the historical period, purpose, and cultural context of the discoveries.
"The Artifact from YOUR Locality" is intended for all those interested in heritage, history, archaeology, and cultural identity, with special attention given to young people and students, who will discover the history of their native places through authentic and captivating stories.
The exhibition will be open to visitors from September 26 to October 12, 2025, in Exhibition Hall No. 4 of the National Museum of History of Moldova, located at 121A, 31 August 1989 Street, Chișinău.
