#Exhibit of the Month

The National Bank of Moldova annually issues commemorative or anniversary coins dedicated to various historical events, prominent cultural and scientific figures, the promotion of heritage and cultural traditions, architectural monuments, the flora and fauna of the Republic of Moldova, etc. A significant place in the coin series of the Republic of Moldova is held by those reflecting key milestones in the formation and development of our country. These coins are the subject of this mini-exhibition:

„War in peacetime”

15 March – 18 April 2017

Beginning with 15 March 2017 the National Museum of History of Moldova invites you to visit the photo-documentary exhibition "War in peacetime".

The exhibition is dedicated to the commemoration of 25 years from the armed conflict on the Dniester and is dedicated to all defenders of the integrity and independence of Moldova.

The exhibition is divided into several conventional compartments, comprising shocking images from the conflict area taken by photographers T. Iovu, N. Pojoga, M. Vengher, A. Mardare, S. Voronin, T. Anghel etc. The images reveal premises of Transnistrian separatism and hostilities in the Transnistrian region, protests of Moldovans against separatism and instigators of war, reconstructs the ordeal of the defenders of Moldova in battles at Dubăsari and Tighina, at Cocieri and Coșnița, immortalizes the heroism and bravery of Moldovan police and volunteers, hardships and humiliations of the war, destroyed families, homes and villages in ruins, transfigured faces of women and children from the pain of losing loved ones.

A separate section of the exhibition brings to the foreground images of killed combatants in fight in the spring and summer of 1992.
