International Museum Day 2025

 On May 18, 2025, the National Museum of History of Moldova welcomed over 5,000 visitors for a day dedicated to cultural exploration and discovery in honor of International Museum Day. Organized under the aegis of ICOM and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, this edition brought together diverse communities to celebrate the essential role of museums in preserving and connecting history with contemporary society.
The Medieval Community, coordinated by Asociația Bastion, presented impressive archery demonstrations and historical reenactments, offering visitors an authentic medieval experience. The Cucutenian Community, organized by the museum's curators, invited participants to explore the motifs of this Eneolithic culture by applying them as temporary tattoos.
Students from the S. Rahmaninov Republican Music High School captivated audiences with an emotional concert, while motorcycle enthusiasts joined The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2025, organized by AO Retromobile, which also featured charitable initiatives supporting the community. At the same time, Cărturești created a magical space for children through storytelling sessions, fostering creativity and imagination.
One of the event's highlights was the opening of the exhibition "Harmony of Beauty. The Timeless Elegance of Azerbaijani Carpets," organized in partnership with Azerkhalcha Open Joint Stock Company and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This exhibition offered visitors the opportunity to explore Azerbaijan's rich textile traditions through a modern interpretation.
The success of International Museum Day 2025 reaffirmed the museum's commitment to making history accessible and engaging for all. With a record number of visitors, the event emphasized the importance of museums as spaces for learning, dialogue, and cultural exchange.
