International Scientific Conference "Cultural heritage of yesterday - implications for the development of tomorrow's society"

Between September 19-20, 2024, the National Museum of History of Moldova (NMHM), in in partnership with the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and a series of international partners, including the Metropolitan Center for Scientific Research TABOR (Iași, Romania), the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Lviv), the European Institute for Multidisciplinary Research (Buzău, Romania), the Free University of Berlin (Germany), in partnership with the State University of Moldova, the "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University, the "Petru Poni" Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (Iași), and the National Research Institute for Medicine and Health of the "Nicolae Testemițanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, hosted the 10th edition of the International Scientific Conference "The Cultural Heritage of Yesterday - Implications for the Development of Tomorrow's Society." The event was held as part of the European Heritage Days and took place in a hybrid format, with sections in Chișinău and online in Iași and Lviv. One of the conference's sections, entitled "Archaeology Today: Problems and Solutions," was held at the National Museum of History of Moldova and was moderated by Livia Ermurachi and Dr. Ludmila Bacumenco-Pîrnău. Participants discussed current and relevant topics in contemporary archaeology, including: - Medieval landscape archaeology: the border mounds of Moldova; - The history of the Trinca "Izvorul lui Luca" settlement: retrospect and prospect; - The Copper Age in the Bugeac steppe.
The conference brought together renowned researchers and specialists from various fields but was also open to the general public, providing a platform for discussing the importance of cultural heritage in the development of modern society. The scientific presentations emphasized the value of cultural heritage and its impact on future generations. We extend our thanks to all the organizers and participants for their dedication and continuous efforts in promoting and protecting cultural heritage.
