International scientific conference "Yesterday's cultural heritage - implications for the development of tomorrow's societies"

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the international scientific conference "Cultural heritage of yesterday - implications for the development of tomorrow's societies" took place, an event dedicated to the European Days of Cultural Heritage. The scientific meeting was a good opportunity for communication between researchers from the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, for the presentation and dissemination of scientific results, for the identification of management problems, restoration and enhancement of cultural heritage and, over time, for appreciation. of outstanding scientific and cultural achievements in research activity. The event is organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in partnership with several scientific institutions in the country and abroad. The National Museum of History of Moldova is among the main partners of these important scientific events for the academic environment. The communications of the conference participants, of outstanding scientific quality, which were presented in the 10 Thematic Sections, carried out in the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, reflected research in the field of cultural, movable, immovable, artistic, archaeological and intangible heritage. , as well as some problems of management, restoration and enhancement of the cultural heritage, problems related to the protection and valorization of the archaeological heritage, identification, preservation and transmission, as little as possible altered, of the national cultural heritage, transformation of the cultural heritage into sources of sustainable development. Thus, the museum hosted Section 8 - Archeology today: problems and solutions. Within a special field of the lands of scientific communication concerning newly discovered sites, categories of vestiges, non-invasive research, the way of life and practical economic activities of the communities that populated these territories from ancient times to the modern period. At the same time, another emphasis was placed on the promotion of heritage by educating the younger generation, strategies for the valorization and large-scale promotion of archaeological collections and the importance of knowledge of national heritage for the development of a sustainable society. The event was an important one, serving as a platform for discussions, debates and display of new directions in archaeological research.
