Public lecture “The Anti-Soviet Armed Resistance in Lithuania (1944-1953)”

On 20 October 2022, at the National History Museum of Moldova, the public lecture "The Anti-Soviet Armed Resistance in Lithuania (1944-1953)" was presented by the Guest Professor Dr. Darius Juodis, researcher at the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy from Lithuania.
The event addressed the representatives of young generation from the Republic of Moldova, history teachers, museographers and young researchers, aiming toward dissemination of historical knowledge and active preservation of memory of the victims of totalitarian regimes as one of the most difficult legacies for the contemporary societies, through the prodigious implementation of the Lithuanian experience.
The event was moderated by Dr. Ludmila Cojocaru, head of the branch of Museum of Victims of Deportations and Political Repressions, NMHM, mentioning the joint efforts of society from the Republic of Moldova and from the Republic of Lithuania in the field of studying and historical valorization of the memory of the victims of the totalitarian-communist regime.
The lecture was followed by a session of questions and discussions, demonstrating the importance and actuality of the presented theme in building a European culture of memory in the Moldovan society, as well by a book donation on behalf of the Guest Professor Dr. Darius Juodis for the MNIM library.
The event was organized within the project "Building the European culture of memory, developing democratic values and strengthening European solidarity through research and dissemination of historical knowledge. Cooperation and promotion of good practices between Lithuania and Moldova", with the support of the Program for the Promotion of Democracy and Cooperation for Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
