Scientific symposium “Bibliophile values from the national heritage”

On the occasion of the bicentenary from the opening of the first printing house (May 30th, 1814) at the Eparchy of Chișinău and Hotin, the National Museum of History of Moldova, the Modern and Contemporary History Sector, organized on 30th April 2014 the scientific symposium "Bibliophile values from the national heritage".

 
The Symposium aimed at stimulating historic thinking on bibliophile values from the national heritage of the Republic of Moldova and interdisciplinary debates about the personality of Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni (1745-1821) and the period he dominated.

The symposium program included the opening of a book exhibition with the generic "Prints published at the Eparchy Typography of Bessarabia during the time of Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulecu-Bodoni. 1812-1821" (from NMHM collections). The collection of the National Museum of History of Moldova includes 17 samples (12 titles) of church books published at the Eparchy Typography of Bessarabia during the time of Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni (1814-1821).

The research interest in heritage books was expressed in the papers presented by assoc. dr. Nicolae FUSTEI, Institute of History of ASM - About the resources of the Missal from Chișinău from 1815; assoc. dr. Igor CERETEU, Institute of History of ASM - Books from the library of GBB; Dr. Elena Chiaburu, University Al. Cuza, Iași - The Missal from Chișinău (1815) between tradition and tsarist policy; assoc. dr. Maria DANILOV, Institute of History of ASM - Bessarabian horn-books from the collection of NMHM and their bibliophile value.
