The exhibition „Valuable pieces of national heritage - restoration and restitution" is opened as part of the events celebrating the European Heritage Days.
Caring for heritage is a permanent concern of the National Museum of History of Moldova's staff and especially of conservators and restaurateurs, who through their hard work and commitment ensure the long-term preservation of the heritage.
Over 5000 heritage pieces were brought back to life by the restaurateurs from the Restoration Sector during two decades of activity, these pieces later being presented to the large public during numerous exhibitions and cultural and scientific events organized by the museum.
The exhibition „Valuable pieces of national heritage - restoration and restitution" aims at enhancing and promoting the cultural and historic heritage held by the National Museum of History of Moldova. The exhibition will give the public the opportunity to admire and get to know (thanks to photographic images) the path an exhibit goes through from the storage facility to the display, to know and to evaluate the efforts made for the conservation and restoration of heritage pieces, and to increase awareness for the need to protect and promote cultural and historical heritage of the country.
The exhibition gathers 115 museum pieces restored in the period 2005-2014, among them: 12 icons, 10 books, 7 maps and estate plans, 45 technical and household objects, 8 carpets, 7 textiles, 10 furniture pieces, 10 ceramic objects and 6 watches. All these pieces can be admired by lovers of history and beauty by visiting the museum.
