The National Museum of History of Moldova is hosting "Satire Comments on History", an exhibition that brings forward an original dialogue between past and present, between historical memory and the artistic creativity of the younger generation. Initiated by the Creativity and Inventiveness High School "Prometeu-Prim" in Chișinău, the project showcases works created by students in grades VII-XII within the framework of the municipal interdisciplinary contest Satire Comments on History", editions VI and VII.
The exhibition explores a wide perspective on history: power, conflicts and transformations, the formation of states and the affirmation of national identities, political regimes, the relationship between state and citizen, revolutions, social changes, as well as propaganda, manipulation, and misinformation in the contemporary world.
At the same time, the students' works, which address diverse themes, are united by one fundamental question: What do we understand about the past when we look at it through the lens of critical thinking? The caricatures on display are original creations that not only provoke a smile but also serve as instruments of critical observation, interpretation, and dialogue. Through exaggeration, contrast, irony, and symbolism, the students have transformed historical information into visual messages that invite reflection and stimulate critical thought. Here, the past is not presented as a rigid succession of dates and events, but as a space of questions, contradictions, and human choices. Caricature thus becomes a form of visual and civic education.
The presence of these works in a museum creates a bridge between cultural heritage and the creativity of the younger generation, turning the museum into a place of dialogue and civic learning. Visitors are invited to discover, beyond the humor, essential questions about freedom, responsibility, identity, and change.
The exhibition is addressed to students, teachers, parents, and the general public, becoming a meeting space between education, art, and historical memory.
