Opening of the Exhibition “European Moldova”
August 26, 2025
On the occasion of the National Holidays-Independence Day and Romanian Language Day-the National Museum of History of Moldova inaugurated the temporary exhibition "European Moldova", a curatorial project dedicated to the Republic of Moldova's process of European association and integration.
The event took place on August 26, 2025, in Exhibition Hall No. 1, in the presence of representatives from cultural and educational institutions, as well as members of the general public. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. habil. Eugen Sava, General Director of the National Museum of History of Moldova, and Dr. Elena Postică, curator of the exhibition.
"For the first time, an exhibition places emphasis on the Republic of Moldova's accession process to the European Union. In recent years, this path has gained remarkable momentum, reflected in the numerous official visits by European dignitaries to our country," stated Dr. habil. Eugen Sava. The exhibition brings together over 100 photographic images documenting defining moments in Moldova's recent history-from the Proclamation of Independence in 1991, to the signing of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, and culminating in the 2024 Constitutional Referendum, which enshrined European integration as a strategic objective in the country's Constitution. "The exhibition serves as a reminder of our European identity and of our commitment to the democratic and cultural values of Europe," emphasized Dr. Elena Postică. The photographs on display are sourced from the collections of the National Museum of History of Moldova and the personal archive of photojournalist Mihai Vengher, offering a visual narrative of political and cultural events, official visits, prominent personalities, and artistic ensembles that have contributed to the promotion of European values within Moldovan society. The exhibition "European Moldova" will remain open to visitors until January 31, 2026, at the National Museum of History of Moldova, Chișinău, 31 August 1989 Street, No. 121 A, Hall 2.
