#Exhibit of the Month

The National Bank of Moldova annually issues commemorative or anniversary coins dedicated to various historical events, prominent cultural and scientific figures, the promotion of heritage and cultural traditions, architectural monuments, the flora and fauna of the Republic of Moldova, etc. A significant place in the coin series of the Republic of Moldova is held by those reflecting key milestones in the formation and development of our country. These coins are the subject of this mini-exhibition:

"Architect Robert Kurtz - 100 Years from the Date of Birth"

Thematic Exhibition "Architect Robert Kurtz - 100 Years from the Date of Birth" includes photographs, drawings, books, and memorial objects, which illustrate biography and work of the architect.

Robert Kurtz's professional activity is related to the traditions of Moldavian folk architecture. He devoted all his life to the construction of the city of Chisinau. He took part in drafting the first general plan of Chisinau postwar recovery. In later years he headed the team of authors, working on a plan of the urban development until the 2000s, including the reconstruction of the city center.

After his projects there were built more than 25 objects: residential buildings, office buildings, rest homes, schools, parks and, in the first place, the Central Park of Culture and Leisure in Chisinau (currently „Valea Morilor") with its famous stairs with water cascades.

He was also involved in the restoration of monuments of history, culture, and architecture of Moldova.
