From 10 February to 31 May 2018, the National Museum of History of Moldova hosts an international exhibition of medieval torture instruments organized by ARANEUS Society from Poland.
The exhibition features over 50 replicas of torture instruments used in the Middle Ages across Europe. The torture instruments on display were used by either secular or religious authorities (inquisition) of those dark times and suggestively illustrate the taste for cruelty over the centuries, both in individuals and in communities.
From a thematic point of view, the exhibition is a challenge. It makes us aware of the atrocities committed in the Middle Ages in the name of "justice" by showing the dark side of human nature. The exhibition is also an urge to understand the seriousness of past historical deeds which should not leave us indifferent to any kind of violence.
The opening of the exhibition is on 9 Feb., at 16.00 hours.
Visiting Program: Monday to Sunday, between 10.00 and 17.00 / 18.00. Friday closed.
