#Exhibit of the Month

The National Bank of Moldova annually issues commemorative or anniversary coins dedicated to various historical events, prominent cultural and scientific figures, the promotion of heritage and cultural traditions, architectural monuments, the flora and fauna of the Republic of Moldova, etc. A significant place in the coin series of the Republic of Moldova is held by those reflecting key milestones in the formation and development of our country. These coins are the subject of this mini-exhibition:

Celebrations commemorating the centenary of World War One

November 11-30, 2015

National Museum of History of Moldova and the French Embassy in Moldova organized a series of events designed to bring in the focus the premises, evolution and consequences of a military conflict that has radically changed the destiny of Europe.

As part of the temporary exhibition "Homage to Captain Conan", opened on November 11th, 2015, were organized screenings of the film "Captain Conan" directed by Bertrand Tavernier and a public lecture for the pupils.

The film "Capitaine Conan - Captain Conan" (1996), a film adaptation by director Bertrand Tavernier of Roger Vercel's novel, has been screened between November 12th and 30th on Saturdays and Sundays from 15.00 hours at the museum Cinematheque "Clio".

On November 27th was held a public conference on "World War One. On the footsteps of French soldiers: from Greece to the Black Sea" attended by eleventh and twelfth grade pupils from "Gheorghe Asachi" Theoretical Lyceum and "Prometeu-Prim" Experimental Lyceum of Creativity and Invention. The conference was held in French by Fabien SCHAEFFER, historian, project manager for Education and Culture at the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova.

Designed to contribute to promoting cultural dialogue, these events have highlighted the common past and European identity.
