The exhibited necklace of beads originates from Funerary Complex No. 6 of Kurgan No. 4, excavated in 1982 by Dr. Habil. Eugen SAVA near the town of Taraclia. The beads were found in the chest area of the deceased, indicating that they had been worn as a necklace and had remained in their original position within the funerary assemblage.
The necklace consists of 11 elements made entirely of Egyptian faience. Eight of the beads are spherical and decorated with vertical incisions forming between 14 and 21 raised ribs. Their diameters range from 13 to 20 mm. Two additional elements are scarab representations measuring 23.5 × 19.5 mm, while the final component is a flattened cylindrical pendant bead featuring a central vertical groove and measuring 22 × 9 mm. The objects range in color from light blue to dark blue and violet hues, reflecting the natural deterioration and glaze variations characteristic of Egyptian faience.
Egyptian faience is an artificial quartz-based material coated with an alkaline glaze, typically blue or blue-green in color. It was widely used in Ancient Egypt and later spread throughout the Mediterranean and Pontic regions through trade networks. During the first centuries AD, such objects served as important indicators of cultural and economic contacts between the Mediterranean world and the communities of the North Pontic region.
Owing to its typological, technological, and symbolic characteristics, the Taraclia necklace is an exceptionally valuable artifact for the study of intercultural relations, the circulation of prestige goods, and the funerary practices of the Sarmatian communities during the first centuries AD (1st-2nd centuries AD).

Opening of the exhibition „Art speaks where the voice is silent”

On Tuesday, 9 December 2025, the National Museum of History of Moldova hosted the opening of the exhibition „Art speaks where the voice is silent", a project dedicated to the inclusion of persons with disabilities, organized as part of the events marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event brought together dozens of visitors, representatives of partner foundations, and members of the general public interested in discovering the works of the two self-taught artists: Vladimir Pocitar and Nadejda Moșnoi.

The opening provided a suitable setting for dialogue between the artists, organizers and the public. Speakers included Olga Andranovici, Deputy Director of the National Museum of History of Moldova; Antonina Guretskaya, painter and the exhibition's curator, who emphasized the charitable aspect of the exhibition and noted that it demonstrates everyone's right to express their feelings through painting; Aurelia Antonova, administrator of the "Plaiul Soarelui" Foundation, who highlighted the importance of identifying and nurturing creative potential; and Liudmila Shishkina, director of the "Planeta carității" association.

The exhibition brings together 25 works executed in two techniques: gobelin embroidery and graphic art. It offers a visual itinerary intended to transform the viewer's gaze through Nadejda Moșnoi's textiles, created over more than 33 years, which present landscapes populated by cottages, trees and seasonal scenes woven without preliminary sketches, as well as Vladimir Pocitar's works - a practitioner of contour drawing for approximately seven years - distinguished by their luminosity, sense of space and a sensitive relationship with the landscape, particularly aquatic scenes.

Charitable initiatives were announced during the opening: some of the works are available for purchase, along with themed items including hoodies inscribed with "Art speaks where the voice is silent". Funds raised will be directed to completing the "Conacul Visului" project in the village of Bușăuca, Rezina district, a space intended for the social inclusion of people with special needs that will provide services and practical opportunities for beneficiaries and their families.

The exhibition can be visited from 9 to 19 December in the ground-floor hall of the National Museum of History of Moldova, Chișinău, 31 August 1989 Street 121A, between 10:00 and 17:00.
