#Exhibit of the Month

The National Bank of Moldova annually issues commemorative or anniversary coins dedicated to various historical events, prominent cultural and scientific figures, the promotion of heritage and cultural traditions, architectural monuments, the flora and fauna of the Republic of Moldova, etc. A significant place in the coin series of the Republic of Moldova is held by those reflecting key milestones in the formation and development of our country. These coins are the subject of this mini-exhibition:

Collection of Photographs

The collection includes 48662 objects and consists of:

Photographs (originals and copies), taken in photo studios in Moldova, Romania, Russia, and other European countries during 1860 - 2010, which can be attributed to many genres: photo portrait, landscape, ethnographic, documentary, and artistic photography, etc. The collection represents a chronicle of economic, social, and cultural life, a succession of historical events; it reveals the images of peasants, townspeople, eminent persons. The collection can illustrate almost all Moldavian history of this period. The photographs of the 19th century, taken in the well-known photo studios of P. Kondratsky, A. Shumovsky, C. Tedesco, M. Tashker, A. Zozulin, A. Gisher, M. Zinger, and other masters of photography, deserve special attention due to their documentary and artistic significance.
