Open air cinema at the National Museum of History of Moldova (Second Edition)
August 13 - September 17, 2015
For the lovers of quality movies, the National Museum of History of Moldova organized the "Movie night under the stars" in the period from August 13th to September 17th. The event, at its second edition, was organized in partnership with the Association for Charity and Promotion of Civic Culture. The organizers aimed with this event to promote a popular concept abroad - outdoor movies available to a large public.
For five weeks, starting at 20.00 hours in the courtyard of the museum were screened 15 classical American movies that won or have been nominated at prestigious international festivals. The audience had the opportunity to watch famous movies, outstanding actors, many of whom award winners at different film festivals or winners of Oscars awards. The films were projected in their original language - English with Romanian subtitles.
The event "Movie night under the stars" ended with the cinematographic masterpiece „Some like it Hot" (1959), one of the most frequently screened and adored films of the last century, and with an acoustic concert.Agenda of the event included: • August 13th - Funny Face (1957), directed by Stanley Donen; • August 14th - Sabrina (1954), directed by Billy Wilder; • August 20th - The Apartment (1964), directed by Billy Wilder; • August 21st - The Great Rupert (1950), directed by Irving Pichel; • August 22nd - Gone with the Wind I (1939), directed by Victor Fleming; • August 23rd - Pillow Talk (1959), directed by Michael Gordon; • August 27th- Gone with the Wind II (1939), directed by Victor Fleming; • August 28th - Roman Holiday (1953), directed by William Wyler; • August 29th - How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), directed by Jean Negulesco; • September 3rd - Charlie Chaplin; • September 4th - Breakfast at Tifanny (1961), directed by Blake Edwards; • September 5th - An Affair to Remember (1957), directed by Leo McCarey; • September 10th - A Song to Remember (1945), directed by Charles Vidor; • September 11th - Boeing Boeing (1965), directed by John Rich; • September 17th - Some Like it Hot (1959), directed by Billy Wilder.
