The work aims to describe and analyze in terms of history and architecture the churches and monasteries which functioned in the territory of Bessarabia in the Middle Ages.

The study covers a series of churches and monasteries which are not preserved till present and remained only in written sources.

Among the investigated objects there are churches from Cetatea Alba, Hotin, Orheiul Vechi, the Capriana Monastery, the monasteries from Orheiul Vechi, Saharna, Japca, Tipova, etc.
