The National Bank of Moldova annually issues commemorative or anniversary coins dedicated to various historical events, prominent cultural and scientific figures, the promotion of heritage and cultural traditions, architectural monuments, the flora and fauna of the Republic of Moldova, etc. A significant place in the coin series of the Republic of Moldova is held by those reflecting key milestones in the formation and development of our country. These coins are the subject of this mini-exhibition:

Archaeological research conducted at the settlement Saharna-Dealul Mănăstirii

In 2005 and 2006 archaeological research was carried out at the settlement Saharna-Dealul Mănăstirii near by Getian fortification on areas free from perennial plants. A number of inland complexes were discovered with ceramic material during the investigations.
Separate strips of ditch to the south of the front of the defense line of the Getian settlement have been discovered which had been known already from researches from the 40ies of the 20th century.
Analysis of the discovered material from the ditch, the pits and the cultural layer, morphologically and by ornamental design techniques fully corresponds to the ceramic assortment characteristic to the Early Iron Age complex Cozia-Saharna and Babadag II types.
